About Lisa
Since I got my first computer (running Windows ‘95), I’ve been creating content. Back then, it was a Microsoft Word-based newsletter about my neighbourhood; these days it’s omnichannel content for international brands.
I grew up with the internet. In fact, my childhood home got its first dial-up connection the same year Google was founded. Since then, like many millennials, I’ve socialised, shared, learned, worked and played online. The internet has changed over the years, but then again, so have I.
The history of me
I come from that part of the UK that Southerners call “The North” and Northeners call “The South”. (That’s probably why it’s called The Midlands.) These days I live in Watford, just outside London. When I’m not managing SEO content strategy for Proton, you’ll find me playing poker in London’s casinos.
I graduated from the University of Hull in 2012, where I studied Film. I chose Film Studies because I was interested in what the popular movies of each decade said about the time they were made in. (For example, musicals were popular in early 1940s Britain, because they provided a much-needed pick-me-up to an audience that had faced quite enough horror in their real lives.)
As soon as I graduated (with First Class Honours, thank you very much), I went straight into Digital Marketing. Since University, I’ve applied the same curiousity about audiences to my work, asking myself “what makes them tick?” and “what do they need?”
By taking this approach and sprinkling it with a bit of SEO, technical knowledge, and a good ol’ fashioned love of spreadsheets, I’ve built an outstanding career in digital marketing.
I’ve worked with Enterprise-level businesses, SMEs, startups and nonprofits, but the same thing is true for everyone - content is only successful when you write it with the audience in mind.
What I’m doing now
These days, I’m the SEO Content Manager for the company behind the world’s largest encrypted email service, Proton. Every day we work hard to build an internet where privacy is the default.
The company has a great mission, and I’m grateful to be a part of the new privacy wave taking on Big Tech.
I’m also one half of Lemons & Sevens. Lemons & Sevens is a gambling and casino blog written to empower gamblers to spend their money wisely, and only at the best casinos.
Read the blog to find out how to beat the house (or at least not lose as much).
